One of the real thrills of having a Caribbean sea view is seeing the variety of ships and boats that pass by. Sometimes we only hear the thump thump of a small motor boat hitting the waves as it speeds by. More often we treasure seeing the elegance of white sails in the brilliant sun. And, as residents of an island community we always feel a bit of special joy when we see one of the small freighters coming by as it means a delivery of fresh vegetables, special cheeses, and other treats that make life a bit more special. Our binoculars are always at the ready so that when one of us spots something we both can enjoy the experience. What a treat!

A Square Rigger, maybe having sailed from Ecuador. These beautiful very old ships are often used as training vessels. We saw this one under full sail and with the sails furled within an hour.
